barre and pilates studio

Hi, I’m Yuri.

I'm a 44 year old stay-at-home mom of two girls and own a Rottweiler-mix named Max. I taught Pilates through both pregnancies and regained pelvic floor strength post-partum thanks to the breathing therapy in Pilates and Barre exercises.

I relate particularly well with women who struggle with diastasis recti and pelvic floor issues as well as those in their mid-40s+ experiencing peri-menopause and menopause.

I offer an array of in-person, online training sessions, and private 1:1 training to fit your goals, fitness needs and busy schedule. I want to help empower women to be strong and healthy, and feel beautiful in their own skin at every stage of life.

With more than 15+ years of experience, my mission is to empower clients to build a strong core that enables them to lead a healthy life 24/7.

Pilates is a system of exercise developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century. It focuses on improving strength, flexibility, and body awareness without adding bulk. The exercises emphasize core strength, proper alignment, and efficient movement patterns.

Pilates exercises are typically performed on a mat and involve controlled, precise movements that target specific muscles or muscle groups. The core muscles, including the deep abdominal muscles, pelvic floor, and back muscles, are particularly emphasized.

Pilates benefits people of all fitness levels, from beginners to advanced. It helps improve posture, increase core strength, enhance flexibility, develop muscular endurance, and promote overall body balance and coordination. Pilates is often used for rehabilitation and injury prevention, as well as for general fitness and well-being.

I teach a blend of both classical Pilates, which follows Joseph Pilates' original teachings, to contemporary Pilates, which incorporates modern exercise principles and equipment.

HIIT Pilates is an upbeat & energizing core conditioning and moderate resistance strength training class that focuses on strengthening your "powerhouse," a term referring to your abdominals, low back, pelvic floor, hips and glutes. It's a modern day twist of functional movement and sports specific exercises paired with Pilates principles

This fat-burning session is choreographed to upbeat music while specifically targeting the steady-state cardio heart rate helping improve cardiovascular health, burn calories, and increase metabolism.

Selected props (ball, dumbbells, bands, discs) are frequently used during the class to provide an added element of muscle activation and neuromuscular connection.

Barre is a low-impact workout that combines elements of ballet, pilates, and yoga. It focuses on small, isometric movements that target specific muscle groups, particularly in the legs, core, and arms.

During a barre class, you can expect to perform exercises such as pliés, relevés, leg lifts, arm exercises, and stretches. These movements are often performed while holding onto the barre for balance and support. Barre workouts are designed to strengthen and tone muscles, improve flexibility and posture, as well as enhance overall body alignment and control.

Barre is suitable for people of all fitness levels, including beginners. I incorporate props like resistance bands, small weights, or balls to add variety and intensity to the exercises.

Overall, barre workouts offer a challenging and dynamic way to improve strength, flexibility, and overall fitness while incorporating elements of dance and mindful movement.
